Here’s Where "My" Creation Creating Comes From

Dec 09, 2025
In Corvia.AI workshops, our participants routinely ask where my creativity comes from.
It’s happened enough times, that I’ll share it here, or at least attempt to.

Moving forward, when I write “I” or “me” or "we" or anything first-person, I’m not actually referring to me. I’m referring to whatever higher power or force is flowing through me in this human body form to create songs, poems, books or articles like this one.

Because “I” don’t take any credit for any of this. That would be egotistical and factually incorrect because the only thing “I” actually do is channel whatever is being sent to me by the divine, or whatever you want to call that presence or ether.

In terms of the actual process of creation, it varies. When I wrote the book “Epic Journey” from April-May 2024, I’d go on a run every day and then stare at the sun toward the end of the run, and whatever came into my heart and head, that’s what I wrote.

When I started writing poems and making drawings during that time and for months afterward, things just popped into my heart and it poured out of me in minutes. I had never done poems or drawn anything really up until that point, so I’m not really sure how else to explain it.

Then a friend who works with famous musicians saw some of my poems and asked me to start writing songs. I said, “Um, OK, sure, why not?” That was in November 2024. I had no idea what I was doing other than trying to transform poems into what I thought looked more like song lyrics.

I’ve done a lot – a lot, a lot, a lot – of feeling about song creation, much more than creating books, poems or drawings, or even news articles for the 20 years I was a journalist. Songs are a different animal, to me, because music predates the spoken word by 10,000 years – at least. The first musical instrument – a flute that came from a cave bear bone with four holes drilled into it – was dated to 60,000 BC or 10,000 years before humans started speaking. Music is just different, and when I create songs, it just comes from a different place. It's our original communication method, so that makes sense.

To make song lyrics doesn’t take long but I have to be in the right frame of mind or frame of heart. If I care about someone, I ask them their favorite song, and then somehow I can feel their soul or hear their truest selves in the music. And then, five minutes later, I produce song lyrics and use AI to make the music and vocals.

That’s how Corvia.AI came about. There was no attempt to start a company; it just so happened that co-founder Erik and I were sharing songs with each other to practice self-care. And we’re both visionaries, so why not make a company based on community and music and self-care. Seems like a good idea.

So here we are.

I can’t tell you how many people have told me that I see them fully unlike anyone else ever has. Again, I don’t take credit for any of this, other than having an ability to realize there is a greater power than me, and if I can channel that, it can help a lot of people, and me, too, in the process.

Words mean a lot to me, and I like to look up etymology for certain words. One recently was rhyme because most song lyrics and poems rhyme, so it made sense to see what that word actually meant. And “rhyme” comes from “rhythm,” which besides being horribly hard to spell comes from Latin and Greek rhuthmos, which means “to flow.”

And maybe that’s we are here for… to find our place in the world to creatively flow and that rhythm.
